How to use this template
Everything runs in your browser: nothing to install, no login, no compile timeout.
- Click Open in LaTeX.to. The template opens as a project in the Projects pane, with resume.tex in the editor and its finished PDF in the preview.
- Click Preview, or press Ctrl+Enter (Cmd+Enter on a Mac), to compile. The preview shows the new PDF; you do not need to save first.
- If the compile fails, the Console pane opens with the LaTeX log. The first error in it says what went wrong and on which line.
- To add an image, a .bib file or another .tex file, open the project's menu (the three dots next to its name in the Projects pane) and choose Upload file or New file.
- The arrow next to Preview has Download PDF. Ctrl+S saves your edits, and the project stays in your browser on this device.
How to change the font and the font size
The resume is set in Computer Modern, the LaTeX default, at 11pt with the bullet text one step smaller, and the file carries its own list of other fonts.
- Write
10ptor12ptfor11ptin the first line,\documentclass[letterpaper,11pt]{article}. With12ptthe example runs to a second page. - Any other size there, such as
14pt, is ignored and the text falls back to 10pt. For 14pt, replace the line with\documentclass[letterpaper,14pt]{extarticle}. - For another font, remove the
%in front of one line underFONT OPTIONS, such as\usepackage[sfdefault]{roboto}for a sans serif or\usepackage{charter}for a serif.
How to add a summary
The example opens with Education, and a summary goes above it as a section of its own.
- Above the
\section{Education}line, add\section{Summary}. - Under it, add
\begin{itemize}[leftmargin=0.15in, label={}], then\small{\item{Your two or three lines.}}, then\end{itemize}. - That is the block the Technical Skills section uses, so the text lines up with the entries under it.
How to list several positions at one company
A promotion or a second role goes under the same employer, and the \resumeSubSubheading command of the template prints that extra line.
- Find the role's
\resumeItemListEndline in the Experience section. - Under it, add
\resumeSubSubheading, then{Research Intern}{Jan. 2020 -- May 2020}with your title and dates. - Follow it with
\resumeItemListStart, your\resumeItem{...}lines and\resumeItemListEnd. - Leave the commented block headed
Multiple Positions Headingas it is: it comes from the template this one is based on, and its\resumeItemtakes two pairs of braces where this one takes one.
How to add your GPA or relevant coursework
Both go in the Education section, the GPA in the degree line and the coursework as a bullet under the school.
- Write the GPA at the end of the degree, as in
{Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science, Minor in Business; GPA: 3.8}. - For coursework, add
\resumeItemListStarton the line after the dates of that school. - Under it, add
\resumeItem{\textbf{Relevant Coursework:} Data Structures, Algorithms, Databases}and then\resumeItemListEnd.
